An Integer Linear Programming Formulation for the Minimum Cardinality Segmentation Problem
In this article, we investigate the Minimum Cardinality Segmentation Problem (MCSP), an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem arising in intensity-modulated radiation therapy. The problem consists in decomposing a given nonnegative integer matrix into a nonnegative integer linear combination of a minimum cardinality set of binary matrices satisfying the consecutive ones property. We show h...
متن کاملAn Imperialist Competitive Algorithm and a Mixed Integer Programming Formulation for the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem
The Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), a famous problem of operation research, holds a central place in combinatorial optimization problems. In this problem, a fleet vehicles with Q capacity start to move from depot and return after servicing to customers in which visit only ones each customer and load more than its capacity not at all. The objective is to minimize the number of used vehicles and t...
متن کاملInteger Linear Programming Formulation of the Generalized Vehicle Routing Problem
The Generalized Vehicle Routing Problem (GVRP) is an extension of the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) defined on a graph in which the nodes (customers, vertices) are grouped into a given number of mutually exclusive and exhaustive clusters (nodesets). In this paper, an integer linear programming formulation of the GVRP with O(n 2 ) binary variables and O(n 2 ) constraints is presented. It is show...
متن کاملA Mixed Integer Programming Formulation for the Heterogeneous Fixed Fleet Open Vehicle Routing Problem
The heterogeneous fixed fleet open vehicle routing problem (HFFOVRP) is one of the most significant extension problems of the open vehicle routing problem (OVRP). The HFFOVRP is the problem of designing collection routes to a number of predefined nodes by a fixed fleet number of vehicles with various capacities and related costs. In this problem, the vehicle doesn’t return to the depot after se...
متن کاملInteger Programming Formulations for the k-Cardinality Tree Problem
In this paper, we present two Integer Programming formulations for the k-Cardinality Tree Problem. The first is a multiflow formulation while the second uses a lifting of the Miller-Tucker-Zemlin constraints. Based on our computational experience, we suggest a two-phase exact solution approach that combines two different solution techniques, each one exploring one of the proposed formulations.
